Report of a mission to provide technical services to the thirteenth meeting of the inter-governmental committee of experts of the multi-national programming and operation centre for West Africa

Abstract

This report outlines the technical advisory services provided by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) during the Thirteenth Meeting of the Inter-Governmental Committee of Experts of the Multi-National Programming and Operational Centre for West Africa, held in Nouakchott, Mauritania from March 29 to 31, 1993. The meeting, attended by six out of sixteen member states, focused on critical areas of cooperation, integration, and development, including agriculture, water development, and the integration of women in development. The Senior Regional Adviser, Crispin Grey-Johnson, presented key documents and highlighted the need for MRAG's services in macro-economic modeling and human resources development. Observations from the meeting emphasized the importance of MULPOCs in fostering socio-economic development despite resource limitations. Recommendations included restructuring the Secretariat to enhance effectiveness and addressing constraints in trade, finance, and human resources development.
