Abstract

The 1997 African Statistical Yearbook, the eleventh issue, is the fourth computer-based edition prepared by the ECA statistics division.as in the previous editions, the year book is published in four parts, with the following sub-regional arrangements. Part 1- North Africa, Part 2- West Africa, Part 3- East and Southern Africa, part 4- Central Africa and others in Africa. This volume which constitutes the third part of this edition covers the eighteen countries in East and Southern Africa.
