Intergovernmental coordinating committees have been established for the five Trans-African Highway projects, which are at very different stages of progress. The task of the coordinating committees is to plan and co-ordinate not only the different construction stage & of the international highways of interest to the countries concerned but also the studies and measures required for their sound utilizations. The Trans-African Highways Bureau within the ECA Transport, Communications and Tourism Division serves as a Secretariat to the various coordinating Committees and is responsible for organizing and serving meetings and for preparing, the various required.
