Résumé
This paper examines the critical role of women in the utilization of science and technology for development in Africa, highlighting the historical context, present challenges, and future strategies. It begins by outlining the historical background of women's participation in the economy, contrasting the experiences of Western women with those of African women. The paper emphasizes that despite women performing a significant portion of agricultural and household labor, they remain largely excluded from access to modern technologies and training, which hampers their productivity and economic contributions. The current situation reveals that women are overburdened with domestic responsibilities and face systemic barriers in education and employment, particularly in the fields of science and technology. The paper concludes with recommendations for integrating women into development processes, advocating for improved access to education, training, and resources that recognize and enhance their contributions to economic growth and community development.
