The present annual report of the economic commission for Africa covers the period 4 may 1995 to 8 May 1986 it has been prepared in accordance with paragraphav18 of he commission’s terms of reference and was adopted by the commission on 8 may 1996. The conference of minister adopted draft resolution 809 (XXXI). New directions for the Economic Commission for Africa at the thirty-first session of the Commission/twenty-second meeting of the Conference of Ministers responsible for Economic and Social Development and Planning, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 6 to 8 May 1996.
