Mission report on the development of programmes and operational aspects of the African institute for higher technical training and research. Consultations and briefings were held with the host Government’s Liaison officer with the institute and the Director-General. The institute’s programmes and possible future goals were part of the discussion held with Mr. W.Z.W. Rakama, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Technical Training and Applied Technology, who serves as the Liaison officer between the Institute and the Government of Kenya. The need to reactivate tailor-made training courses, which originally got the support of other donors, was also raised during the briefing. The point of discussion centered on the importance of member states responsiveness and demonstration of a higher rate of desire and support for such training programmes as these were the preconditions for the mobilization of external funds.
