La découverte d’une ressource minérale dans toute région minière suscite toujours de grands espoirs chez les parties prenantes, notamment en ce qui concerne par exemple les recettes et leur répartition. Ces dernières décennies, on a assisté à un développement rapide de l’exploitation des gisements marins ainsi qu’à la découverte de nouveaux gisements de ressources minérales marines, qui pourraient à terme produire des rendements économiques considérables et devenir des compléments précieux de la base mondiale de ressources. Pour que l’Afrique puisse utiliser ses ressources minérales au service de l’industrialisation et du développement durable, il lui faudrait tirer parti de ses dotations en minerais afin de relever les défis énoncés plus haut.
