ECA deputy chief highlights the vital need for sound statistics in Africa

ECA Deputy Executive Secretary, argues that sound statistics are essential to help African countries to analyze what is going on the continent and better plan policies to improve people’s lives. Stresses that there are still a large data gap that hinders policy makers from making informed decisions and that ECA stands ready to provide support to members’ states in the fields of statistics. The discussion of Burundi Country profile in Bujumbura was attended by approximately 40 people, including representatives of government, the private sector, international institutions and UN agencies, civil society organizations and the media.
