Abstract

Index to African Official Publications marks the beginning of an expanded service being launched by the Library of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) to routinely inform its users about the increasing volume of African official and intergovernmental publications received by the ECA Library. Recognizing the extreme value of these publications as authentic sources of data and information on various aspects of national/international life of its Member States and Intergovernmental Organizations, the Library has intensified efforts to systematically collect and process these publications to share knowledge about them. The Index is intended to help to widely disseminate information about these African national treasured information sources. It believes that armed with such information across national boundaries, the process towards regional cooperation and integration will be greatly enhanced thus giving concrete expression to the goal of harnessing our information resources for the region's development.
