Résumé
The report details the proceedings of the Ad-Hoc Expert Group Meeting on Nuclear Science and Technology for the Development of Agriculture and Food Preservation in Africa, held from May 23 to 26, 1994, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting brought together experts from several African countries, including Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, and Zaire, along with representatives from various regional and international organizations. Key discussions focused on the importance of nuclear science and technology in enhancing agricultural productivity and food security in Africa. The meeting emphasized the need for collaboration among member states to address common challenges in nuclear science and technology, mobilize resources, and develop intergovernmental machinery to support these initiatives. Recommendations included the establishment of a network of national institutions, the creation of a Radiation Technology Map for Africa, and the need for member states to implement quality control regulations for food products. The report concludes with a call for increased support and resources for nuclear science and technology initiatives in Africa to ensure sustainable development and economic integration.
