The African Regional Conference on Science and Technology, held at Africa Hall from 6-10 November 1995, marked its first meeting since being elevated from a committee of experts. The conference aimed to deliberate on the role of science and technology in fostering socio-economic development across Africa. Key topics included the contribution of foreign direct investments to science and technology, incentives for the development and application of scientific advancements, and the establishment of science and technology indicators for Africa. Additionally, the conference explored nuclear science and technology, technology transfer and acquisition, and the Science and Technology Protocol of the African Economic Community. The event brought together high-level delegations, including ministers, permanent secretaries, commissioners, and heads of science and technology institutions, alongside representatives from UN organizations, intergovernmental bodies, and non-governmental organizations.
