The situation concerning Western Sahara report of the Secretary-General
dc.description.abstract | This report, submitted to the United Nations Security Council in accordance with Resolution 1002 (1995), provides an update on the implementation of the Settlement Plan for Western Sahara, focusing on the identification process for the referendum on self-determination. The report covers developments since May 1995, detailing progress and challenges in the identification of voters, the activities of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), and other aspects of the Settlement Plan, including military and civilian police components, financial matters, and observations and recommendations. The report also addresses the reduction of Moroccan troops, the confinement of Polisario forces, the release of political prisoners, and the exchange of prisoners of war. It notes the deteriorating condition of MINURSO's equipment and the need for additional resources to support the mission. | en |
