Abstract

The second session of the Joint Conference of African Planners, Statisticians and Demographers was convened at ECA Headquarters; Addis Ababa, from 8-17 March 1982. To enable the Joint Conference to meet its objectives, member States of ECA were encouraged to send three delegates: a planner, a statistician and a demographer. The Joint Conference approved guidelines and priorities for a self-reliant effort to develop African price statistics. The Conference emphasized the importance of national accounts for purposes of planning and economic policy formulation and approved a draft project document prepared by the ECA secretariat on the National Accounts Capability Programme (NACP).
