The African coal resources constitute a very large potential for the increased development of energy generation, steel manufacturing, metallurgy, and other uses of coal in Africa for centuries to come. The substitution of wood fuel in African households and small industries appears to be of paramount importance in many African areas, where desertification progresses rapidly around villages and towns. It is obvious that in many countries, the overall wood and charcoal consumption.
