The speech delivered during the General Debate and the Special Debate on the Critical Economic Situation in Africa at the 1984 Second Regular Session of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, from 10 to 12 July 1984 in Geneva. The speech mainly
confined to give an overview of the performance of African economy and the major economic parameters in Africa. This speech addresses The African countries economic and social situation since the late 1970s in all relevant sectors. This implies how Africa should require long-term structural adjustment to solve long-term challenge, which faces Africa. The overall effect brings economic transformation from dependent to self-reliant
one so that Africa can emerge as effective partner to international economy.
