The Wereda Agriculture and Rural Development Integrated Services Programme (WARDIS) focuses on enhancing the status of women in the Gambela Region of Ethiopia, particularly in the Itang, Jicawo, Gog, and Godere Weredas. This report outlines the socio-economic conditions of women, their roles in household and agricultural activities, and their access to resources and services. Despite their significant contributions, women face numerous challenges, including limited access to land, credit, education, and health services, as well as cultural barriers that hinder their participation in decision-making processes. The proposed programme aims to empower women through various initiatives, including the provision of grain mills, poultry production, vegetable cultivation, and the establishment of credit and saving schemes. The report emphasizes the need for community involvement and the strengthening of Women's Affairs Offices to facilitate women's participation in development activities.
