Trends and issues in African education: assessment of confidence building factors in school curricula of some African countries

Abstract

This volume of the Education Monograph Series: Trends and Issues in African Education compiles country-specific studies by educators and development economists, examining confidence-building factors in African school curricula. Presented at a 1993 UNECA experts' meeting in Addis Ababa, nine chapters analyze educational reforms in Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Rwanda, Kenya, and Swaziland. Key themes include aligning education with development goals, curriculum reforms, educational quality, teacher training, and challenges in meeting demographic demands. Additional chapters explore secondary education reforms in Anglophone West Africa and science/technology curriculum integration.
