Abstract

Three major surveys are currently under way in respect of the hydrocarbon industries in Africa, the chemicals and fertilizers industry in the eastern African Sub-region and the engineering industries also in the East African Sub-re6ion. The last two studies are being conducted by consultants made available through the bilateral technical assistance programme of the Federal Republic of Germany. Field investigations have been completed and the consultants are presently engaged in finalizing their reports. From these industrial branch surveys, projects for implementation at the national and multinational levels are expected to be identified.
