Report on ECA's statistical activities in 2006-2007 and proposed work programme 2008-2009

Abstract

The objective of this document is to provide an overview of the implementation of the ECA's 2006-2007 work programme in statistics. The work programme under review was presented during the last Committee on development Information (CODI) meeting. We will also underline the amendments to the work programme that occurred following the upgrading of the statistical function from a team within a division, to a division called the African Centre for Statistics (ACS). The presentation of this report is as follows. After the introduction, the second section presents the 2006-2007 work programme and its implementation. The third section presents additional activities due to the upgrading of the statistical function to a division level. The fourth section reviews the resources used to implement statistical activities at ECA while the fifth section deals with the proposed work programme for the biennium 2008-2009 and finally, the last section draws attention to issues for consideration by the subcommittee.
