This report provides a review of the history of modernisation of agriculture in Africa.
It highlights the shortcomings and the significant perspectives of five major
agricultural development approaches that were used in different African countries. It
also highlights the economics of the available land, vegetation and water resources.
In spite of 50 years of agricultural research and development in Africa, unlike in Asia
and South America, the Green Revolution in Africa has either been missed or
delayed.
