The irregular rains and their uneven distribution were largely responsible for the subregion’s huge and persistent deficit in food and agricultural production over the past ten years. Agricultural products in Sahelian countries can be improved only through irrigation, especially irrigation of land that is yet to be irrigated and by increasing the productivity of already irrigated and using appropriate techniques. This study will be restricted to presenting the general situation of irrigated crops in the agricultural sector of Sahelian States since it is a fact that irrigation projects are not an end in themselves.
