An introduction to ESTNET

Abstract

The overarching goal of the ESTNET project is thus to help build capacity for African countries* active collaboration as well as their sound and effective policy decisions in science and technology area. To this end, ESTNET aims at providing a virtual space, where African science and technology policymakers and institutions can network, dynamically access and share relevant information in a timely manner. Ultimately, it aims at providing a comprehensive 'one stop shop1 information gateway service for African science and technology policymakers and community. The expected result is then that African policymakers and institutions have access to better information and be better equipped to formulate and implement sound and effective science and technology policies. This way, ESTNET will help enhance ECA member States' science and technology policy capacity, hence effectively fulfilling ECA's mandate.
