Abstract
The African Gender and Development Index (AGDI) aims to be a measurement and a monitoring mechanism of governments' progress towards achieving gender equality in Africa. It seeks to be an African index by addressing a range of social, cultural, political and economic concerns of women on the continent of Africa. It does so by providing quantitative and qualitative measures of progress of government progress in the Gender Status Index and the African Women's Progress Scoreboard.
