Ethiopia has three main climatic zones conditioned by altitude. Over 2,500 m the climate Is cool, between 1,.800 and 2,500 m the climate 1s temperate, and areas below 1,800 m are hot. Within these zones several livestock management systems can be identified related to feed resources, agriculture and land use. The livestock industry of Ethiopia is based primarily on indigenous cattle maintained under traditional system .in the hot zone(nomadic areas) opportunities for improvement in the feeding and health management practices are very much limited.
