The training workshops are a result of the follow-up to the Gender Sensitization Workshops for cabinet ministers and parliamentarians in April 2001 [April 2001 Workshops, conducted by ACGD with the technical support of Ms Nalini Burn. A request for ACGD to conduct two further training workshops for senior administrators and planning directors was then made by the Ministry of Social Development, Population, Promotion of women and Child Protection[ The Ministry]. The objectives were; to develop a common vision and understanding of gender and development issues in Niger; Build awareness and knowledge of the concept of gender and tools of gender analysis and develop an understanding of how to integrate a gender approach in all policies and programmes, specifically poverty reduction programmes.
