This document, presented at the Eighth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts for Science and Technology Development in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, explores the impact of scientific and technological associations and professional institutions on socio-economic development in Africa. It highlights the challenges faced by these organizations, including inadequate funding, political instability, and lack of private sector involvement. The study emphasizes the need for stronger national, subregional, and regional associations to enhance the management of science and technology. Recommendations include increasing the number of non-governmental organizations, fostering public-private partnerships, and organizing training programs and events to raise awareness and build capacity. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life through effective science and technology practices.
