The OAU Assembly of Heads of State and Government have established the Joint ECA/OAU/ADB Secretariat (JS), primarily, to assist the Permanent Steering Committee (PSC) in the negotiation process leading to the establishment of the African Economic Community (AEC). Resolution Res. 179(XXV) directed that there should be regular consultations between the Executive Heads of OAU, ECA and ADB for the harmonization and coordination of activities, projects and programmes related to economic cooperation and integration at all levels and for the adoption of common position with regard to international matters of interest to Africa.
