Abstract
The document is a briefing for ambassadors on the Sixth African Regional Conference on Women, held in Addis Ababa from November 22-26, 1999. The conference aimed to review the implementation of the Dakar and Beijing Platforms for Action. Key objectives included evaluating national progress reports, thematic evaluations, formulating a five-year action plan, and preparing for Africa's participation in the global review (Beijing +5). The conference also sought to enhance dialogue between governments and civil society, sensitize stakeholders on gender issues, and strengthen partnerships. Participants included government officials, NGOs, and international organizations.
