Opening remarks by the chairperson of the APRM National Governing Council delivered during the opening of the workshop on the harmonization of the National programme of action with the National development strategies. The chairperson on his remarks highlighted that, the Africa peer review mechanism (APRM) as an African initiative, remains an important stimulus for progressive improvement in the governance of many African countries particularly those that have acceded and agreed to be peer reviewed. The launch of the country review report signaled the beginning of the implementation phase of the national programme of action for Zambia. The purpose of this workshop is to share insights and knowledge on how to harmonize the national programme of action, developed during the APRM process, with national development strategies.
