Abstract
The present programme is scheduled to run for 4 &1/2 years starting from July 1983. The Population Census will come towards the end of the programme in November 1986. The mission has detailed discussions with CARMAS on various inputs, e.g., consultancy, training, equipment, transport, staff, etc., required for implementation of the present programme. The mission noted that the sampling frame being used by CARMAS for the present household surveys is based on the last population census held in November 1976. The mission suggested to CARMAS that they might request the Economic Commission for Africa for a short mission of their Regional Advisor on Census Cartography to review the current mapping situation and assess the cartography requirements for the next population census and the continuing programme of household surveys.
