Joint ECA/RIPS advisory mission report on the 1976 Lesotho census and the multi-round labor force and migration survey

Abstract

This joint ECA/RIPS mission was undertaken at the request of the government of Lesotho for assistance regarding the analyses of the 1976 census data. The age sex data showed the usual digit preference, age shifting and under enumeration of young children. In the 1976 census their questions on numbers of children ever born, those surviving and births in the past year and deaths among these. The census collected very useful data on the labor force, on households, housing and on education. Drafts on evaluation of the population count and age-sex data; fertility and population growth; life tables and population projections were completed during the period of the mission.
