Report on a mission to Lesotho (31 October-7 November, 1979)

Abstract

This report delivered by E.A. Colecraft Regional Advisor in Demographic Statistics on a mission to the Kingdom of Lesotho. The mission was undertaken at the invitation of the UNFPA coordinator for Southern Africa to assess the status of UNFPA projects in demographic data collection at the Bureau of statistics in Maseru. The main conclusions and recommendations in this report were discussed with the Director of Statistics and the Principal Statistician in charge of the Demographic and Social Statistics Division. the ECA Population Division should field a mission to Maseru to assist the Bureau to prepare a framework for the analysis and to follow up with periodic visits by the Regional Adviser to supervise the write-up.
