Report on mission to Mali

Abstract

This report presents the findings of two missions conducted in 1975 to assess preparations for Mali's population census, scheduled for December 1976. The missions reviewed progress in cartographic work, questionnaire design, field organization, pilot census, and data processing. Administrative delays, particularly in staff recruitment and equipment procurement, were identified as major obstacles. The report provides recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, including streamlining procedures, staff training, and resolving logistical challenges. It also emphasizes the need to study nomadic populations prior to their inclusion in the census.
