Report on a mission to Sudan (10 November 1980-19 January 1981)

Abstract

This is the report of a two-month mission to Sudan. It was made at the request of the Department of Statistics, Khartoum, in conjunction with the Division of Statistics, Juba, Southern Region. The population census is planned for November 1982. Due to delays in finalizing the budget, the project is now seriously behind schedule. The government contribution is still not available to the Department of Statistics. To back up the cartographic preparations, quite extraordinary efforts will have to be made in the administrative and planning sections of the Census Office, if an accurate census acceptable to the government is to be completed by the target date.
