Priorities in the development of Africa

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to shed some light on development priorities in Africa in view of targets and policies continued in the national development plans and Africa’s strategy for development in the 1970s. A basic goal and objective of the International Development Strategy is to achieve an average annual rate of growth of at least 6 percent in the gross product of developing countries during the decade. Africa’s strategy in respect of trade and mobilization of resources determines the priorities of the region within the framework of the second United Nations Development strategy.
