Report to the subregional and sectoral sub-committees on industrial development decade for Africa on cooperation in raw materials, technology, maintenance and manpower: (Eastern and Southern African subregion and Lusaka-based MULPOC)

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to identify and analyse existing cooperation arrangements among countries of Eastern and Southern Africa in four specific activities namely: exploration, development and processing of raw materials; development of technology; development of industrial maintenance capabilities; and development of industrial manpower. On the basis of the above analysis some of the main constraints to cooperation in these areas will be highlighted. Then some of the possible ways and means of promoting cooperation activities in these four areas will be discussed.
