1973 population census of the Libyan Arab Republic: report on the mapping requirements

Abstract

The mission (6-12 March) was organized at a short notice at the request of the Libyan Census and Statistical Development and the UNDP resident representative in Libya, following the visit of Mr. Swann, Head of the African Census programme, to Libya. The objective of the mission was to look into the cartographic needs of the forthcoming census, to make an inventory of available and adequate cartographic material, and to advise on the most urgent procedure to follow. The objective of the mapping programme are to provide a small scale map of the whole country showing the main census administrative areas and to provide each of the province medium scale maps divided into Municipalities and mahallahs.
