The world wide activities each year marking International Volunteer Day are remarkably varied. They attest to the tremendous breadth of the concern which animates volunteers everywhere. In one country health may be the theme: in the next perhaps, education: in another the environment, agricultural production, or peace and human rights. These are all facets of the development of communities and nations, but they are not distinct and separate: they inter-relate and interact. If pence is disrupted, agricultural production is lost. If the environment is polluted, health suffers, If human rights are abused, education is Incomplete and full development denied.
