Abstract
The United Nations Operation in Somalia (UNOSOM II) will end on 31 March 1995. The Security Council decided to extend the mandate of the united Nations Operation in Somalia (UNPSOM II) for a final period until 31 March 1995. It took that action by unanimously adopting Resolution 954 (1994). An earlier report of the Secretary-General had recommended that the Council consider extending the mandate of UNOSOM II for one month to allow him to assess the peace conference of the Hawiye subclans and the preparatory meeting for a national reconciliation conference, which could convene by the end of September.
