The president of the United Nations General assembly, Amara Essy (cote d’Ivoire) has taken note of the signing of the peace accord between the government of Angola and the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) on 20 November 1994, in Lusaka, Zambia. The President of the General Assembly expresses his satisfaction at the conclusion of this historic event, which opens up an era of hope for a country torn by years of strife.
