Résumé
This study examines the impact of the GATT agreement, the devaluation of the CFA Franc, and the decline of the industrial small pelagic fishery on food security in West Africa. It reviews the fish production sectors in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, and Togo, focusing on artisanal and industrial fisheries, fish processing industries, and market evolution. The report highlights the challenges faced by the fishing industry, including rising costs of fishing materials, declining fish supplies, and the need for sustainable strategies to enhance food security. It also discusses the implications of trade liberalization and the importance of regional cooperation to improve fisheries management and competitiveness in the global market.
