Abstract
This press release is the text of the statement of general assembly on desertification convention. The prosperity of future generations in a world in which ecological balances are at last preserved was what the Earth summit at Rio in 1992 was really all about. One of the conclusions and recommendations adopted in Rio captured the attention of the international community with particular force.
