Petter Hansen, of Denmark, appointed under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs

Abstract

This press release is describes Peter Hansen, of Denmark, appointed Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs. Mr. Hansen, a national of Denmark, has been Executive Director of the Commission on Global Governance, Geneva, since 1992. From 1985 to 1992, he was the Executive Director of the then United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations. He was Assistant Secretary-General for Programme Planning and Coordination from 1978 to 1985. Previously, Mr. Hansen had been professor of International Relations at Odense University, Denmark, and Chairman of the Department of Political Science, Aarhus University.
