The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is organizing, jointly with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Seventh African Development Forum (ADFVII) that will focus on “Acting on Climate Change for Sustainable Development inAfrica”.Prior to that, aPre- AFD event will be held on “Climate Change through the Lens of Vulnerability and Human Rights”. The Pre-ADF event will kick start in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 11-12 October, 2010. This ADF pre-event is a joint initiative taken by the Social and Human Development Cluster of the Regional Coordination Mechanism, a NEAPD working cluster of the United Nations made up of UNECA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNIFEM, OHCHR, UNAIDS, IOM and the AUC. The African Development Forum is a bi-annual platform for diverse stakeholders (government officials and policy makers, experts, research institutions, UN agencies, representatives of civil society organizations and the media, etc), who gather to discuss a specific development- related issue which is critical to Africa. This opportunity is used to reach consensus, develop common positions on the debated issues and thus contribute to furthering Africa’s common development agenda.
