Résumé
The United Nations Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), today told the Indian media that relations between African countries and India should be nurtured, encouraged and promoted because they are in our “mutual interest”. Speaking to a group of 6 journalists representing the top tier of the Indian media in Addis Ababa, Mr. Abdoulie Janneh brushed off insinuations that India’s interest in Africa might be part of a new “scramble for Africa”, saying that the development path India has taken, coupled with the historical ties between the two continents can partly explain why Africans do not feel under any threat from India, at all.
