UN agencies and organizations which met here this week have agreed on broad coordinated actions to respond to the challenges posed to Africa by rising food and oil prices, the global financial crisis, climate change and agricultural subsidies in rich countries in Addis Ababa 24 October 2008 (ECA). The agencies and organizations met from 21-22 October in the framework of the Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM), which was established pursuant to General Assembly resolution 57/7, to coordinate the work of UN agencies and organizations in support of the African Union and its NEPAD programme.
