ECA Organizes African regional workshop and study tour on public-private partnerships in Johannesburg

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in collaboration with MINTEK (a South African based mineral research organization) and the South African Department of Treasury, is organizing a regional capacity building workshop on the management of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Programs and on the NEPAD Spatial Development Program, from 23-25 July 2008 in Johannesburg, South Africa. This workshop, which is coupled with a study tour of successful PPP projects. The objectives of the workshop and study tour are to contribute in building the capacity of the public sector in strategic management of PPP programs, and to provide a platform for participants to exchange views and share experiences on new developments in PPPs; Develop a better understanding of the NEPAD Spatial Development Program; Provide an opportunity for participants to visit and learn from South African experience in the implementation of PPP projects; and provide a platform to establish PPP alliances and networks at the African regional level and to forge cooperation between the private sector, academic and training institutions and governments.
