Abstract
The twentieth meeting of the Technical Preparatory Committee of the Whole (TEPCOW)/Ninth meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts was held in Algiers, Algeria, from 2 to 7 May 2001. The meeting was formally opened by Mr. Abdelkrim Lakehal, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the Peoples Democratic Republic of Algeria. Mr. K.Y. Amoako, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), delivered a statement at the opening ceremony of the meeting. The representative of Morocco, outgoing first Vice-Chair of the Committee presided over the opening ceremony. The meeting was attended by representatives of the following member States of the Commission: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Cote d'lvoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Mali, Morocco, Namibia, the Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Swaziland, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia.
