In spite of increased food availability in recent years, food security and poverty remain a challenge to the Government of Burkina Faso. Food is the main concern of poor households, especially the most vulnerable persons such as children and women. This study aims to provide information that could assist member States in designing and implementing gender, food security and climate change policies. Good knowledge and actions should help countries more in negotiating individually and collectively on climate change issues. In this connection, the study should draw on the Banjul Declaration of 2009 and should therefore be on
regional and national as well as household issues. The present report deals principally with the state of food and the involvement of women in providing food security. The national and subregional food security policies will engage decision maker’s efforts in facing up to the challenge of food security. This report will also highlight the success and limitations of the relevant actions.
