African road safety action plan

Abstract

The Plan of Action provides a road map on the required international cooperation and technical and financial supports to build the continent’s capacity for implementing the Accra declaration and beyond to achieve Africa’s contribution to the “Decade of Action on Road Safety”. It constitutes detailed descriptions of the continued increase of traffic accident problem, and the challenges and issues in Africa. It outlines the vision, Decade Action Plan 2011-2020, and leadership and financing framework. The Plan of Action would be evaluated and updated regularly every two years through the RECs, ECA and the African Union (AU). It is proposed that ECA plays a leading role in regard to the pertinent actions, in close cooperation with African Union, during the implementation of the Plan of Action.
